Manages and plans, organizes, develops and manages the overall operations of the Nutrition Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, local and HISD standards, guidelines and regulations governing HISD facilities to ensure quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

Develops and implements all menus for the district, including production records, recipes and menu costing. Manages the nutritional analysis of all menus and ensures menus are in compliance with all TDA/USDA guidelines.

Assesses customer preferences, industry trends, and current research to plan menus that encourage participation in the program. Evaluates and recommends food productions and recipes with assistance from the test kitchen manager.

Manages the role of Food Services as a resource for expertise in the development and presentation of nutrition education materials and activities.

Serves as the representative for the commodity distribution program and coordinates the ordering and processing of commodities in conjunction with the annual menu and budget.

Develops and conducts staff training on TDA/USDA guidelines, menu planning system and quality control procedures.
