Licensure:
Bachelors’ degree from an accredited university in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Home Economics, Food Service Management, Community Nutrition or related field
Experience and Qualifications:
Ability to plan, organize, allocate, and control substantial resources
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in the use of computers and a variety of software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
A minimum of three to five years of nutrition related experience.
Responsibilities:
1.Develop a nutritional program which meets state and federal requirements.
2.Coordinate and consult with Center Managers in the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of kitchen personnel, food transport personnel, and purchase of food, equipment, and consumable supplies.
3.Develop, plan, and approve menus, in conjunction with relevant staff and parents, to ensure compliance with USDA guidelines.
4.Supervise nutrition services professionals on contract with Head Start.
5.Conduct and assist with nutritional screenings and coordinate nutritional assessments.
6.Conduct and oversee nutritional education activities for staff, children, and families.
7.Coordinate the nutrition education curriculum in collaboration with Education Services and conduct periodic classroom observations.
8.Develop and conduct nutrition training programs and activities for all staff to increase the quality and delivery of services.
